Following Young Thug and Swae Lee’s Creed II set, J.I.D took over “The Tonight Show” for a powerful performance on Wednesday night.
Making his television debut, the Dreamville rapper lit up Studio 6B with “Skrawberries” off his sophomore album DiCaprio 2. Joined by BJ The Chicago Kid and Thundercat, a shirtless J.I.D opened his stirring set with a dedication to the late Mac Miller.
“I just want to say, everybody, check on your strong friends,” he said. “We love you, Mac.”
Taking to Instagram, he explained why he decided to perform “Skrawberries.” “My niece and my mom love this song, I only wanted to empower women in this moment that’s why we decided to perform it on national Tv,” said J.I.D. “And we dedicate this performance to Mac Miller our brother…we love you.”
DiCaprio 2 dropped Monday featuring appearances from J. Cole, 6LACK, Ella Mai, Method Man, Joey Bada$$, A$AP Ferg, and more.
