A Danish company called 3D Realms is in hot water after Iron Maiden filed a lawsuit against it alleging copyright infringement.
The lawsuit regards a game called ‘Ion Maiden’… which 3D Realms released without consent or permission from the band.
As reported by Forbes, Iron Maiden alleges the company named the game “in an effort to confuse consumers into believing [3D Realms’] products and services are somehow affiliated with or approved by Iron Maiden.
“Defendant’s Ion Maiden name is nearly identical to the Iron Maiden trademark in appearance, sound and overall commercial impression,” says the complaint.
Iron Maiden already has its own official video game called ‘Legacy Of The Beast’, and the band says that ‘Ion Maiden’ “has the same look and feel” of their game.
For their part, 3D realms have responded via twitter calling the claims “frivolous”.
