Bryce Mills and Ebony Boadu have been announced as the new hosts of triple j’s Breakfast program, following the departure of Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett from the role earlier this month.
Mills has been holding down the fort on the Breakfast front since Sally and Erica took off, so it’s a natural fit. The presenter started his career at the triple j front desk in 2018, going on to become a regular fill-in for an array of triple j shows while hosting the station’s Weekend Arvos this year.
“I was in high school when I decided that I wanted to one day host triple j Breakfast. It was pretty arrogant of me to make that declaration during Maths class with absolutely no idea how I’d get to triple j, but here we are,” commented Mills in a statement.
“I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to start this new role and get to know triple j listeners on an even deeper level.”
Boadu, meanwhile, joined triple j last year to present Saturday night program House Party, after hosting spots on the likes of FBi, SBS and MTV. She’s also an accomplished DJ who boasts a resume that includes slots at Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival, headline tours and supports for the likes of Stormzy and Leikeli47.
“Over the past two years I’ve had the most incredible time spending my Saturday nights DJing and partying with people all over the country,” commented Boadu.
“I’ve been so humbled and grateful for that opportunity alone, but to now be able to wake up with triple j listeners and hang out every single day in my dream workplace is still something I’m trying to fully process. I’m so stoked to have the opportunity to share my favourite new songs, talk to artists that I admire and make 1000s of new friends every morning.”
Both Mills and Boadu have regularly filled in together over the years on the likes of Brekkie and Drive, becoming listener favourites in the process. The pair will begin hosting Breakfast together from January 2021, with new House Party and Weekend Arvos hosts to be announced early next year.
