Game Of Thrones Prequel House Of The Dragon Is Officially In Production

It’s finally happening! The previously announced Game of Thrones prequel House Of The Dragon is officially in production, HBO revealed on Monday.

The production giant shared the news with accompanying photos of a socially distanced table read, which you can view below.

For those playing along at home, the prequel will be set 300 years before GoT. The story is based on George R.R. Martin’s 2018 book Fire And Blood, which detailed the history of the Targaryen house.

The cast so far includes the likes of Paddy Considine who will play King Viserys Targaryen alongside Olivia Cooke (Alicent Hightower), Matt Smith (Prince Daemon Targaryen), Emma D’Arcy (Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen), and Steve Toussaint (Lord Corlys Velaryon, aka The Sea Snake)

Also on board are Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, and Sonoya Mizuno.

Martin co-created the upcoming prequel with Ryan Condol. The series will reportedly begin to air in 2022.

There are reportedly FIVE GoT spin off series currently in the works, as well as a stage production which may be hosting its opening night in Australia.
